Congratulations! on taking the first step towards your jiu jitsu journey, we look forward to training with you! Thank you for joining the team!

Just a few basics to help things get started…

UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT
Make sure to always have a clean uniform for training this includes any protective wear (i.e. rashguard, mouthguard, earguard, etc).

ACCESSORIES
Bring sandals, towel and water.

SCHEDULE
Add your preferred class times into your schedule to help you attend consistently.

ARRIVE ON TIME
Arrive to class a few minutes early in order get ready and benefit from the entire session. Fundamental classes are usually 60 minutes.

JOIN THE CHATS
Make sure to have joined our "Check-in” chat for important updates on classes and attendance. We also have a general group chat used as an open forum (optional to join).

what to expect

The truth about jiu jitsu is that it’s not easy! It’s hard work and it tends to get frustrating, and it takes some getting used to - but its highly rewarding!

Training jiu jitsu gives us the opportunity to help understand, strengthen, and develop our physical, mental, and emotional abilities in which consistency and perseverance are key to making this a successful experience.

A few things to keep in mind…

  • When the Training Gets Challenging

    • Balance yourself out and make sure not to overdo it. Take your time with your learning and your physical development.

  • When Things Don’t Make Sense

    • Make sure to ask questions when something doesn’t make sense. We’re always looking for new and more effective ways to practice jiu jitsu so there is truly NEVER a wrong question!

  • Enjoy the Training

    • Try to find something you enjoy about training and make that the focal point to help you keep the learning and training playful!

purpose
of the
beginners
program

  • The purpose of this program is to share the benefits of jiu jitsu and the impact it has on our every-day lives.

    We will work on building a strong foundation and cover the fundamentals of jiu jitsu - from learning how to use leverage to safely defend ourselves to understanding our physical abilities and movement.

  • This program is designed t offer the following:

    • Learn how to physically control a bigger and stronger opponent

    • Learn to use leverage and technique rather than strength.

    • Increases physical strength

    • Better spatial and self-awareness

    • Stronger mental and emotional connections

    • Comradery with a like-minded team.

  • No experience necessary for this program.

    If you are new to jiu jitsu or even martial arts in general, this program will help you through the basics into more advanced techniques.

    Begin athletic comes with its advantages and will help learn certain movements, but all levels are welcome. Each student will be challenged based on their own ability.

  • Our fundamental classes are scheduled for:

    • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 7pm

    • Sunday at 10am

    NOTE: All classes are with Gi. Al ranks welcome.

In 6-weeks we’ll work on reaching these 3 milestones…

Through the practice and sparring, increase and development in your breathing, endurance, and stamina.

A better understanding of your posture and balance- what to expect during training and how to apply it in our every day living.

A better understanding and execution of fundamental jiu jitsu movement and self-defense techniques leading up to proficiency and mastery.

Note: We recommend attending at least 3 sessions / week (24 classes / month) in order to reach these goals with efficiency and effectiveness.
